About Chevening Scholarships

Chevening is the UK government’s international scholarship programme. It funds outstanding professionals to study a one-year master’s degree at a UK university, and it puts strong weight on leadership, networking and a clear plan for what you will do after the course.

Indian applicants apply online through the official Chevening portal. The application is essay-based, so the way you describe your leadership and career goals matters as much as your marks.

What it covers

  • Full tuition fees for an eligible one-year master's course
  • Monthly living allowance
  • Return airfare to the UK
  • Visa application fee and tuberculosis test costs
  • Access to the Chevening alumni network

Eligibility

  • Undergraduate degree that qualifies you for a UK master's course
  • At least 2,800 hours of work experience (about two years full-time); internships, voluntary work and part-time jobs can be counted
  • You must apply to three eligible UK master's courses and receive at least one unconditional offer by 8 July 2027
  • You must not hold British or dual British citizenship, and must not be a UK resident
  • You must not have received UK government-funded scholarship money before
  • You must agree to return to your home country for at least two years after the course
