About NIFT

The NIFT entrance exam is used to admit students to design and fashion technology programmes (B.Des, B.FTech, M.Des, M.FM, M.FTech) at NIFT campuses across India.

NIFT Eligibility

  • B.Des: Class 12 in any stream (age limit applies).
  • B.FTech: Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Master's programmes require a relevant bachelor's degree.

NIFT Exam Pattern

StagesGeneral Ability Test (GAT), Creative Ability Test (CAT) and, for some programmes, a Situation Test
GATQuantitative ability, communication ability, English comprehension, analytical ability and general knowledge

How to apply for NIFT

  1. Register on the NIFT admissions website.
  2. Choose programmes and campuses, fill in details and pay the fee.
  3. Download the admit card and appear for each stage.

NIFT Preparation Tips

  • Practise sketching daily – observation and creativity carry the most weight.
  • Prepare for the situation test with simple material model-making practice.
