Management Eligibility Criteria/ Requirements

The eligibility criteria for medical courses in India can vary depending on the level of study (undergraduate or postgraduate) and the specific entrance exam.

Undergraduate Medical Courses (MBBS/BDS):

Age: Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the year of admission.

Educational Qualification: Candidates should have completed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.

Minimum Marks: General category candidates usually need a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination, while reserved categories may have different requirements.

Postgraduate Medical Courses (MD/MS/Diploma):
NEET-PG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate):

Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess an MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate from a recognized medical college.

Internship: Completion of the mandatory internship before the NEET-PG application deadline is required.

AIIMS PG (All India Institute of Medical Sciences Postgraduate Entrance Exam):

Educational Qualification: A candidate must have an MBBS degree from a recognized university.

Internship: Completion of the 12-month compulsory rotating internship is mandatory.

PGIMER MD/MS (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research):

Educational Qualification: MBBS degree or an equivalent qualification.

Internship: Completion of the 12-month rotating internship on or before the last date for submission of the application.

Super Specialty Courses (DM/MCh):

NEET SS (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – Super Specialty):Educational Qualification: Candidates should possess a recognized degree in MD/MS or DNB.

Medical Entrance Exams

NEET-UG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate):

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET-UG is the primary entrance exam for admission to undergraduate medical courses (MBBS/BDS) in India.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) conducts its entrance exam for admission to its MBBS program. AIIMS MBBS has been replaced by NEET for most institutions, but AIIMS New Delhi still conducts its separate exam.

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) used to conduct its own entrance exam for MBBS. However, from 2020 onwards, JIPMER MBBS has been merged with NEET-UG.

NEET-PG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate):

NEET-PG is conducted for admission to postgraduate medical courses (MD/MS/Diploma) in India. It is essential for candidates aspiring to pursue higher education in medical specialties.

AIIMS PG is an entrance exam for admission to postgraduate courses (MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh) at AIIMS institutions across India.

NEET SS (Super Specialty):

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) conducts an entrance exam for admission to MD/MS courses.
